Hi everyone!
I hope you had a great time during “La Mercé”, I enjoyed so much the street concerts!
Today I would like to share with you my impressions on the last Woody Allen’s movie; “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”.
An obvious reason to tell you about this movie is that… it was recorded in Barcelona! and of course, it’s a must see!!! You will see all the places that you have actually visited here in Barcelona (or you should have
).
The film is a love comedy about two American girls, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson), who decide to spend their summer in Barcelona. The girls are two very different characters in search of adventure in Spain. Vicky is a very sensible and romantic girl, who loves the sound of Spanish guitar and believes in love forever and marriage. Cristina is the total opposite of her friend, very spontaneous, unsecure about what she wants to do in life… but she does for sure know what she does not want

Hello everybody!
It has been a long time since I have not written on our blog. It is nice to be back!
If you are a movie goer and really enjoy science fiction or horror films, I have a good tip for you for this weekend: There is one festival that is currently taking place this week that you cannot miss. It is called the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia and as its name indicates, it takes place in the lovely village of Sitges.

After 40 years of existence this film festival has become THE meeting point for movie lovers. And no wonder why… The films they show every year are nearly impossible to see outside the festival and the atmosphere is FANTASTIC (and when I say fantastic I really mean fantastic! With the audience screaming in the cinema when the logo of the festival appears on the screen… loads and loads of people strolling in the little streets of the village, exhibitions, accessories to buy, appearances of famous directors, actors etc etc.).
Another really great point is that it takes place in one of the prettiest villages around Barcelona: Sitges. Therefore if you have never had the opportunity to go there, this festival is a great opportunity to discover the entire village as the films are screened in 5 different venues. And if you are a student in our school, check regularly our blog because we often organize a day out in Sitges.

Hi everyone
It has been a while since I last wrote in this blog. I have really missed it and here I am again with some “party recipes” for you all…
As many of you probably know the 24th September is the day of ‘La Mercé’, it’s a local holiday and the school will be closed too. But you won’t get bored all this weekend and all next week
Since the Virgin of La Mercè was declared the patron saint of the city by the Pope of Vatican; Barcelona began to celebrate a festival in the month of September. The reason seems to be the end of the summer… let’s say, a reason to party… you know at the end of May there are lots of Festivals because of the beginning of the summer and now because of the end of the summer…
Excuses to party, something that Spanish people are good in, so why not join and enjoy with them?

If you want to see a mixture of sport, culture and nature I suggest you one of the best places in Barcelona, a place full of history: Montjuic.
Montjuic starts off in ‘plaza España’ going through the two magnificent Venetian Towers (which are copies of the towers in San Marco square in Venice); from there you will see the magic fountains (the ones I described to you in a previous blog). At the end you will see the amazing National Art Museum of Cataluña. At the sides of the museum there are two big buildings where almost every weekend there is a fair. Some of them are very popular like the fashion fair Bread & Butter, cars exhibitions and many more. Read the rest of this entry »

Hi everyone!!! This summer is full of sports’ emotions and especially for Spain, who lastly seems to be winning always :P. After the European football championship ‘08, where Spain was the winner
… we are thinking to update you with news from the Olympic Games 2008.
The original Olympic Games were first recorded in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece (and there is where they got the name from). Every four years men from all over Greece were gathered in a sport festival to honor their gods Zeus and Hera.
The Olympic Games are now divided into summer and winter Olympic Games. This year, the Summer Olympic Games will take place in China, in the capital Beijing. As many of you come from different countries and even different continents, it would be great to open the school blog in the morning and get some news (mostly
) about Spain and of Read the rest of this entry »

Hello everyone! Hope you are all fine! I see you are all very tanned! You are really enjoying ‘las playas de Barcelona’

Today I would like to write something about the Sagrada Familia, the only temple still in construction in the world (125 years in construction). It is also the only temple in the world that receives donations by volunteer people to continue the construction, as it does not get any funds from the Government. I find it a gigantic and pageantry building; I was impressed by all the little details that were worked up on it.
This is the most famous work of Gaudi; he dedicated all his life to this building; he would even sleep inside the temple to have more time to work on it. The construction of the temple started in 1881 and the initiator was ‘Josep Maria Bocadella’. The beginning was very difficult because of budget problems (which are still ongoing and this is one of the reasons why this great temple is still in construction). The first budget for the building of the temple was 1034 € (125 years ago!), a money which Bocadella kept under the floor tiles of his store because he was afraid someone could steal that.
