¡Hola a todos!

I’m a football fan, so when I chose Barcelona I knew I had to go to the biggest football field in Europe - the ‘Camp Nou’ with over 100 000 seats. The atmosphere in the city on a games day is INCREDIBLE; all the newspapers and the people talk about the game, how the players feel and FC Barcelona shirts and flags are everywhere around the enormous stadium and all over the city.

The journey to the stadium in the metro is an experience in itself! The crowds are singing, having fun and making as much noise as possible until they get there - quite different to how it is in Germany.

Once you get inside the stadium and walk up the stairs before finding your seat, you get a panoramic view with people everywhere! Above you, underneath you and all around you! Once sat in your seat, the traditional game is to make a paper aeroplane with any kind of paper object you may find or have on you - and to try and send the plane gliding over the safety nets and onto the field! If that happens and you succeed…you will get a massive cheer from the audience and no doubt a few slaps on the back!!! I won’t lie, it hasn’t happened to me yet, but I’m training hard, folding and creating the coolest and most efficient paper planes for my next trip to the stadium! Sending the planes is so random, so don’t be surprised if somebody else’s plane crashes into your ketchup and chips, or if your plane sinks in your neighbour’s Coca Cola. Those things happen…at a Barça game!

The game itself on this particular day wasn’t as exciting as the giant Mexican wave punctuated by approximately 100,000 people…..OOOOOOLA!!!!!

If you are in Barcelona you have to go and see a game, not for the football, even though you will see some of the best players in the world, but for the atmosphere!

Viva Barcelona!!!
