Hoy os quiero hablar de la tele, la querida y odiada televisión, la caja tonta, también llamada. Me gustaría recomendaros un poco cómo ver la tele en España y en español. Aunque no lo parezca, la tele es una buena manera de practicar vuestro español, ya que os ayudará a mejorar vuestra capacidad auditiva para entender el español.
Today I’m going to talk about the loved and hated phenominan of the television. I would like to give you some advice about getting the most out of watching TV in Spanish. Although it might not seem like it, watching TV is agreat way to practise your Spanish as it will help improve your listening and comprehension skills.
Probablemente, tal y como me pasó a mí cuando empecé a ver películas en versión original en inglés, al principio me costaba un mundo, sobre todo si los actores hablaban muy deprisa o utilizaban palabras demasiado coloquiales. Pero poco a poco, al igual que cuando se habla un idioma todos los días, parece que el oído se abre y vas entendiendo más y más palabras.
You will probably find, as did I when I started watching films in English, that it is really difficult to start with, especially if the actors speak quickly or use a lot of slang. But little by little, as when you speak a language every day, you get used to the sounds and start to understand more and more.
Sobre todo, lo importante es no agobiarse si al principio no entendéis muchas cosas, lo mejor es intentar captar el significado global del programa, serie o concurso que estamos viendo.
Above all, you mustn’t panick if you don’t understand much at the start - the best thing to do is to try to grasp the general idea of what is happening in the program you are watching.
En España hay muchos canales que tienen programas interesantes, os voy a resumir algunos. La televisión nacional son dos canales, ‘La Uno’ y ‘La Dos’. En la Uno tenéis todo tipo de programas, series, un poco de todo en general, y en la Dos encontraréis programas más culturales, dedicados al arte, documentales de naturaleza, lo que se llama televisión educativa.
Spanish TV offers lots of interesting programmes and I can tell you about a few. The state has 2 TV channels - channel 1 and channel 2. On channel 1 you will find a variety of programmes; soaps, dramas, a bit of everything. Channel 2 offers programmes of a more cultural nature, such as art and nature programmes and educational programmes in general.
Los canales privados son más abundantes, y normalmente, los que tienen programas más ‘absurdos’. Estos canales son ‘Telecinco’, ‘Antena 3′, ‘Cuatro televisión’ o ‘La Sexta’. De estos canales os recomiendo evitar los llamados ‘programas de corazón’, ¡donde los ‘famosillos’ se tiran los trastos sin parar!
The private sector offers a lot of channels which normally offer more ‘absurd’ programmes. Such channels include Telecinco, Antena 3, Cuatro Televisión and La Sexta. With these channels, I recommend that you skip the celebrity gossip shows, which basically feature D-list celbrities slagging eachother off!
Podéis empezar por ver vuestras series favoritas en estos canales, series que podéis ver en vuestros países también, así sabéis un poco el argumento y no os costará tanto entender lo que dicen los personajes. Los Simpson en Antena 3, CSI en Telecinco, House en Cuatro, o Los Soprano en la Sexta. Seguro que os suena un poco raro escuchar estas series en español, ¡pero es divertido!
You could start off by watching your favourite series - many of the channels show programmes that you get in your home country. This way its easier to follow the plot and you will have a better idea of the what the characters might be saying. Look out for The Simpsons on ‘Antena 3′, CSI on ‘Telecinco’, House on ‘Cuatro’ and Los Sopranos on ‘La Sexta’. It will probably be wierd hearing these programs in Spanish, but a lot of fun too!
Y bueno, ya cuando os sintáis más confiados en vuestro nivel de español, podéis probar con series nacionales, que no son menos recomendables: Aída o Camera Café en Telecinco son comedias muy divertidas, o por ejemplo Cuéntame, en la Uno, narra la historia de una familia española típica en la época de Franco.
Then, when you are a bit more confident with your Spanish skills, you could try to watch a few Spanish programs. ‘Telecinco’’s Aída and Camera Cafe are really funny and Cuentame on Channel 1 tells the story of a typical Spanish family in the time that Franco ruled.
El cine español también se puede ver en la tele, ¡no hace falta pagar la entrada siempre! Los lunes por la noche hay un programa especial dedicado al cine nacional, llamado ‘Versión Española’ en la Dos.
