Iremos a tomar un helado y a conversar en una heladería en el barrio del Eixample. ¡Trae un par de euros para tomar algo! 

We will have an ice cream and a chat in an ice cream parlour in the Eixample area. Bring a few euros for your ice cream!

Taller: Español coloquial - Workshop:Colloquial Spanish

En este taller conoceremos los tópicos, el lenguaje coloquial y la vida cotidiana en España a través de una serie de televisión de éxito: ‘Aquí no hay quien viva’. Nivel intermedio-alto requerido.

We will learn about typical Spanish stereotypes, colloquial Spanish and daily life in Spain with the help of scenes from the popular television show: ’Aquí no hay quien viva’. High-intermediate level of Spanish required. (more…)

Hi all! The good weather is coming and Barcelona is one of the best places to be! You can go to the beach, you can visit the parks, you can have a drink outside in a nice “terraza” or you can enjoy just walking by, shopping or having an ice-cream admiring one of the Gaudí’s houses… but you can also go to Poble Espanyol in Plaza España and for a few Euros have a drink, admire the beautiful buildings and even buy some crafts, paintings or even a pair of earrings or a colourful candle!

This “village” with a surface of 49,000 m2 was built in 1929 for the Barcelona International Exhibition as the pavilion dedicated to art. It is one of the few monuments built for an International Exhibition that can still be visited. It is a real model of a Spanish village containing all the main characteristics of our arquitecture in the 117 buildings all reproduced to scale.

Hi all!

It’s official!  Barcelona has gone Bicycle bonkers!  I was at the beach yesterday and there were more people on 2 wheels than on foot!  Small children, young couples and people old enough to be my grandparents were all joining in the craze!

But it’s not just about people enjoying a leisurely ride at the weekends…the bicyce has become a valid and increasingly popular mode of daily transport for many people in the city…me included!  I mean, why take the metro when you can get there in the same amount of time without polluting the environment whilst getting fit at the same time??!

Barcelona is now one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in Europe, with its ever-expanding network of cycle routes and special parking rails where we can leave our beloved 2-wheeled friends without fear of them being towed away!  (more…)

Como muchos debéis saber ya, Barcelona es uno de los principales núcleos del arte contemporáneo en España, en continua lucha con la también capital del arte, Madrid. Ambas ciudades cuentan con un patrimonio artístico y cultural incalculable, aunque de alguna manera creo que Barcelona es conocida por ser más vanguardista que la más tradicional Madrid.

As you should already know, Barcelona is one of the main cities in Spain for contemporary art, in continuous ‘battle’ with the other art capital, Madrid. Both cities have an incalculable artistic and cultural inheritage, although in some way I think Barcelona is known for being more in the forefront of ‘avant-garde’ than the more traditional Madrid.

Por ejemplo, si pensamos en qué museo es el más conocido en Madrid, diríamos El Prado, que cuenta con las obras españolas más importantes anteriores al siglo veinte. En Barcelona, sin embargo, el museo probablemente más conocido podría ser el museo Picasso, gran artista español del siglo veinte, o incluso el CCCB (Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona), muy popular también.

For example, if we think which museum is the most popular in Madrid, we would say ‘El Prado’, that has the most important Spanish works from before the 20th century. On the other hand, the most popular museum in Barcelona would be the Picasso museum, or even the CCCB (Barcelona centre for contemporary art), very popular too.

A lo largo del año, aparte de visitar los numerosos museos que tiene Barcelona, también podéis disfrutar de las numerosas ferias de arte que se organizan en las galerías de arte de la ciudad. Por cierto, ¿sabíais que la escuela está rodeada de galerías de arte con exposiciones continuas todo el año? ¡En la misma calle Consell de Cent encontraréis muchas!

Throughout the year, apart from visiting the many museums that there are in Barcelona, you can also enjoy the numerous art exhibitions taking place in the different art galleries in the city. By the way, did you know that our school is surrounded by art galleries with continuous exhibitions all year round? In the same Consell de Cent street you will find many of them!

¡Buenas tardes a todos!

Ya estamos en mayo, que es el mes que a mí más me gusta porque hace sol, calor (pero no mucho) y ya se puede ir a la playa … ¡¡¡qué bien!!! A partir de ahora y durante todo el verano hay muchas más actividades que se pueden hacer en Barcelona, por ejemplo hoy quiero recomendaros un espectáculo ‘obligado’ y único: la Fuente Mágica de Montjuic.

We are at last in May, that is the month that I like most, because it’s sunny, warm (but not so much) and we already can go to the beach… how nice!!! Since now and during the summer there are a lot of activities that you can do in Barcelona, for example today I want to recommend a ‘must see’ and unique exhibition: The magic fountain of Montjuic .

Es la fuente más impresionante de la ciudad, fue construida por Carles Buïgas y inaugurada en el 1929 durante la Exposición Internacional de Barcelona.

It is the most impressive fountain of the city, built by Carles Buïgas and inaugurated during the Great Universal Exhibition in 1929.
