Euro Football Cup 2008 - Spain wins the final

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Hi everyone! SPAIN in the FINAL!!! ESPAÑA a la FINAL!!!

We are all happy to celebrate the winning against Germany on Sunday :D .

This Euro football tournament has been magnificent!!! I’ve really enjoyed all the matches and especially here in Camino, as we all are from different countries. All teams played wonderful and it was like most of them were whiskered as winner.

I really have to say congratulations to Russia and Turkey! Who would have thought that they would beat countries like Netherlands and Croatia and go to the semi-final? Turkey had a great performance in the field. They lost versus Germany, although I think Turkey played much better and deserved to win. All Turkey’s matches were (more…)

Every year I put a big post-it on my agenda not to forget to check their programme because there is one venue I particularly fancy: The ‘Teatro Grec’. (more…)

Euro Football Cup 08 - The quarter finals

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Hi everyone!!!

Here we are again with some news about the European championship. Seven countries have already passed to the quarters; today we are waiting for the last country to pass, Sweden or Russia. The only big surprise of the Championship was that France did not go through to the next leg, but considering in which group they were, one of the ‘big’ teams had to come back home soon…

So, Germany, Portugal, Croatia, Turkey, Netherlands, Italy and Spain have passed to the quarter finals. We are going to see very interesting matches this week, starting with Germany – Portugal. After the win versus Austria with the result of 1-0, the German press has warmed up its tone for the players and especially for Ballack. Germany’s problem right now is Lukas Podolski who might not play in the quarter final match versus Portugal, because he was injured in calf. This is really good news for Portugal :) .On the other side the goalkeeper Jens Lehman said that he is prepared for the match and that he knows a secret way to stop Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal. However Germany has a lot to improve in its game and this was clearly seen in its last match versus Austria. The match Germany – Portugal will be very difficult, where Portugal is whiskered as winner. (more…)

Euro football cup 08 - Go Spain!!!

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Hi everyone! Here we are again with some news about Euro football cup 2008 :)

One week has past and we have seen how all the participating countries play and I believe we have created an idea about which countries might pass to the quarter-finals.

Lots of surprises: winnings we have seen and I think lots of money have been lost in bets :P

Well, Portugal has definetly secured its place in quarter finals. According to Deco, “we aim again to the final and this time to win ;) . That’s why we wanted to rapidly pass to the quarter finals”. Well, they could win this championship as they are in very good form and with one of the best coaches in the world, Scolari.

The runner-up in this group will be between Turkey and Czech Republic and it’s very hard to predict the second runner-up in this group…

I’m really sorry for Switzerland who did not pass to the quarters. As they are one of the (more…)

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Hello Guys!!! Do you want to get lost in a beautiful maze? If the answer is yes,I have the best place for you!!! It is called ‘Jardines del Laberinto’ (Labyrinth’s Gardens), it’s an amazing park open to the public where it used to be the gardens of a mansion of one of the most influential and rich persons of Barcelona, a marquis called ‘Antonio Desvall’. The gardens now belong to Barcelona’s council, they refurbished it and open it to the public. The park is one of the oldest in the city of Barcelona as is dated from 18th Century.

The garden has three levels. On the first level there is a pond that collects the water  to irrigate the gardens. (more…)

Flamenco - Cante, guitarra y baile!

Monday, June 9th, 2008

¡Hola gente! ¿Que tal?

As you know Spain is famous for its nice weather, “gente caliente”, delicious paella …. and of course FLAMENCO and this is what I’ll talk about today…

When I was a kid, like 10 years old, I remember watching a movie with my parents. It was about a couple who wanted to win a dance competition and that they learnt how to dance Flamenco by some Spanish people that lived somewhere nearby. I was really impressed by the moves, so passionate, determined and the dancers seemed so involved and felt like all parts of their body were speaking. Of course the couple won the dance competition at the end of the movie :) . Since then I fell in love with this very creative and original dance. I would like to tell you some details behind this special and traditional art here in Spain. (more…)
