¡¡¡Que viva la Salsa!!!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Hi guys! ;)

Dancing is fun and a very good way to exercise, don’t you think? Besides, it is a great way to learn from another culture. If you agree with me, you can now dance with us in the school! Dance Salsa in Camino!!! Yes, that’s right… you can learn salsa moves just after taking your Spanish classes! It is very liberating, passionate and so exciting too :D .

Our students have already taken some Salsa lessons in the school and they enjoyed it so much! You can also start your Salsa classes now, even if you are a complete beginner and have no idea about salsa. You don’t have to have a partner or be an experienced dancer to understand the basic steps of Salsa, because your Salsa teachers will mix you with other students and make a class fun. You only need to have the passion and will to dance and with the help of our professional instructors you will learn step by step how to dance Salsa. A place in the mountains

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Hi guys! Today I want to talk a little bit about the place I was born, Andorra.

Andorra is a beautiful small country (actually the sixth smallest country in Europe), situated in the eastern Pyrenees mountains. 71.000 inhabitants live in Andorra and the official language is Catalan, although everyone speaks Spanish! Apart of its beauty Andorra is known for being a tax haven! You can have so much fun, skiing, going shopping, relax and much more.

Today we are going to focus on the relaxing part!

Andorra is divided in seven parishes. One of them, the Escaldes-Engordany, is well known for the existence of sulphurous springs which well up from the deep of the earth and reach a temperature of 61º. Thanks to this springs, an amazing thermoludic centre was built: CALDEA, in ancient Catalan means tonic and warm. (more…)

Vicky Cristina Barcelona

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a great time during “La Mercé”, I enjoyed so much the street concerts!

Today I would like to share with you my impressions on the last Woody Allen’s movie; Vicky Cristina Barcelona”.

An obvious reason to tell you about this movie is that… it was recorded in Barcelona! and of course, it’s a must see!!! You will see all the places that you have actually visited here in Barcelona (or you should have ;-)  ).

The film is a love comedy about two American girls, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson), who decide to spend their summer in Barcelona. The girls are two very different characters in search of adventure in Spain. Vicky is a very sensible and romantic girl, who loves the sound of Spanish guitar and believes in love forever and marriage. Cristina is the total opposite of her friend, very spontaneous, unsecure about what she wants to do in life… but she does for sure know what she does not want :P ! (more…)

Sitges Film Festival: Zombies on the coast

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Hello everybody!

It has been a long time since I have not written on our blog. It is nice to be back!

If you are a movie goer and really enjoy science fiction or horror films, I have a good tip for you for this weekend: There is one festival that is currently taking place this week that you cannot miss. It is called the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia and as its name indicates, it takes place in the lovely village of Sitges.

After 40 years of existence this film festival has become THE meeting point for movie lovers. And no wonder why… The films they show every year are nearly impossible to see outside the festival and the atmosphere is FANTASTIC (and when I say fantastic I really mean fantastic! With the audience screaming in the cinema when the logo of the festival appears on the screen… loads and loads of people strolling in the little streets of the village, exhibitions, accessories to buy, appearances of famous directors, actors etc etc.).

Another really great point is that it takes place in one of the prettiest villages around Barcelona: Sitges.  Therefore if you have never had the opportunity to go there, this festival is a great opportunity to discover the entire village as the films are screened in 5 different venues. And if you are a student in our school, check regularly our blog because we often organize a day out in Sitges.
