An easy but tasteful recipe: La Tortilla de patatas
Last Saturday it was very sunny, so some friends and me decided to go to have some tapas in my local bar and enjoy the sun. The “tortilla de patatas” looked good so we decided to have a “pincho” (a triangle) with a cold beer (nothing better in a sunny day) and started talking about how easy it is to cook and how good it tastes.
It is interesting but everybody had some, but no everybody knows exactly how and what it is made of. La tortilla de patatas is the perfect dish to prepare for inviting friends to a party, to enjoy on the beach or to have for lunch or dinner, it tastes also good cold or hot, in a sandwich or with some salad, with ketchup, mayonaise or on its own.
Here is then the recipe for such a good example of the Spanish cuisine!!!!!
Ingredientes / Ingredients:
Para 4 personas / For four poeple
1 kg. de patatas / 1 Kilo potatoes
2 cebollas / 2 onions
1 pimiento verde / 1 green pepper
8 huevos / 8 eggs
aceite virgen extra / extra olive oil
sal / saltz
Pela las cebollas y las patatas / Peel the onions and the potatoes.
Pica las cebollas en trozos medianos y dóralas en una sartén con abundante aceite / Cut the onion in medium pieces and golden in a frying pan with enough olive oil.
Pica las patatas en dados, sazónalas y añádelas a la sartén / Cut the potatoes in cubes, season them and add them to the frying pan.
Añade el pimiento cortado en dados y fríe todo a fuego medio, removiendo de vez en cuando con una cuchara de palo, hasta que se dore todo un poco/ Add the green pepper in cubes and fry all in a medium fire, moving them with a wooden spoon from time to time, until all is in a golden colour.
Retíralas y escúrrelas / Remove all and drain everything.
Bate los huevos y agrega a ellos las patatas, cebollas y pimiento / Mix the eggs and add to them the potatoes, onions and the pepper.
Pon un poco de aceite en una sartén y vierte la mezcla anterior / Put only a bit of oil in a frying pan and place all the mixture inside.
Cocina primero a fuego vivo y después un poco más suave / Cook first with a high fire and later with a slow one.
Dale la vuelta a la tortilla para que se dore por ambos lados y sirve caliente / Turn the tortilla so it is golden on both sides and serve hot.
¡Y ya está! /And that’s all!
