Carnaval in Sitges
CaRnAvAl!!!
Last weekend I went to Sitges with some friends to celebrate carnaval! It really was ‘la mar de divertido!’
We got there with the last train from estacio Sants. It’s about half an hour by train to get there. In the train everybody was drinking and singing. In Holland people celebrate carnival as well, so we introduced the Spanish people in the train some Dutch carnival songs!
We arrived in Sitges about 00.30. Sitges is well known as a gaydistrict. So when we walked to Sitges ‘downtown’ we saw a lot of amazing extraordinary persons and outfits. I think that about 50% of all people on the street were males dressed as women. Wigs, skirts, heals, lots of make up, nailpolish, they had it all! I think all people out there proved that they know the best how to celebrate carnival!
Even though, some of these ‘dressed up lady’s’ scared me a bit. They want to be seen and trying to get peoples attention. They love to get attention! and if you do give it to them, they come very close to you and it seems to be that they look right trough you! Scary…. But fun! They were always very friendly and social. I’ve even met ‘the one and only’ Lolo Ferrari! Hahaha!
After the ‘sightseeing’ we got into different bars. They were all fully crowded and the atmosphere was really great! We danced and drank and in the end we got a little drunk too..
We took the train back at 6.30am. Everybody was tired but satisfied! It’s really worth it
to go there, even if you don’t like carnival. Just to see all these crazy dressed up people in this great atmosphere… Hilarious!!
