One night @ Palau de la Música!

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Hola @ todos!

How are you? Did you go to the Three King Parade? Did you see all the magical string of cars around BCN last Saturday? Did you catch some sweets?

Well today I would like to tell you something about my favourite music styles and about a nice concert on 22nd January…

You should know I nearly love all kinds of electronic music, like House, SCHRANZ and Gabber (greetings to my friends from the Netherlands) Is there anyone out there who knows this types of music, too!?! There are some great places to go here in Barcelona! E. g., La Cova or Raum, Nitsa, Illusion or Moog… however, you can find more places with this kind of music in Italy, France, Netherlands and good old Germany! ;-) You should also have a glance on myspace.com or grupodejavu.com. There you could find some artists and awesome parties here in Barcelona. Here you can acquire a taste for my music! ;-)

Budget-flights all over the world

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Hello guys!

I’m in an especially good mood today as I have just booked my flights for a holiday to Germany. And to top it off, the total journey costs me 42.50 euros, all taxes included!  That’s really cheap!

I am travelling with Easyjet which used to be one of hundreds of these cheap airlines in Europe. They are offering hundreds of new routes to places (some exotic!) all over the world. Did you know that there are a lot of websites like this one, which compare flight prices for you? This is very helpful to keep track of these flights.  (more…)

Skiing, snowboarding and snow

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Hello everybody!

How are you? Do you know what I discovered last weekend!?!

If you like skiing, snowboarding or anything to do with snow, just like me, because I’m 100% ‘del norte’, ;-) you are going to adore my latest discovery - I spot cheap weekend trips from Barcelona to the ski slopes (La Molina, Andorra and Baqueira-Beret, for example). I walked past some travel agencies in Barcelona and Badalona when I saw the incredible prices. I was amazed!!! Firstly I thought this had to be a joke… But then after realizing that these were real prices, I booked a 3-day ski-trip for me and my girlfriend from Barcelona to Andorra - 3 nights in a 3* hotel, half board and the coach - for only 450 euros!!! Isn’t it cheap!?!

You must know, if you would like to book a ski-trip from Germany to the Alps it is much more expensive: You actually have to pay between 600 and 800 euros for this trip (2 persons)… :-(  Furthermore, I’m living in Cologne and it is quite exhausting to get to the Alps from there. It would take you approximately 8 hours by car meanwhile here in 2-3 hours you can be already skiing! So, you could imagine how happy I was about this… :-) Although I’m feeling proud of my “new” discovery, all my Spanish friends told me that these are really old news… But for me it was really new!!!  I think the budget-boom for skiing-trips did just arrived 2 or 3 years ago, before I arrived in BCN! ;-)  But now I would like to tell you something about the most popular and cheapest Catalan ski courts around Barcelona. Grease in Barcelona!

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

Hello everyone!

How are you? I hope you’re doing fine… As I’m quite interested in theatres, I would like to tell you something about my favourite musical: GREASE!!! :-) I really love musicals and I’ve seen Grease in English and German speech, so I have decided to go to Victoria Theatre on 28th December to experience it in Spanish!

The musical will be staged here in Barcelona until the 18th March 2008 at the Victoria Theatre, Av. Paral lel, 67. Grease is a musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The stage version of the musical features all famous songs from the film and many more. Grease was originally staged at the New London Theatre in the 1970’s. Later on the show was made into a movie that was released in 1978 – with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. The movie version was quite different to the original version and included a number of new songs. In 1979, another stage version of Grease was produced which, included the songs from the film. I was much more impressed by the stage version because of the songs, the performance of the actors and of the live music.  (more…)

Christmas gifts in Barcelona!

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Hello everyone,

How are you? Hope you’re doing great!

As the Christmas time already has begun in Barcelona, I would like to tell you something about the traditional Christmas sweets of Spain during this period.

If you don’t know what to buy for your friends and families, read carefully the following. ;-) It could be a good opportunity for a gift!

turron 1

There are two famous sweets in Spain during Christmas time: “el turrón” and “el polvorón”. These popular sweets are especially available on Christmas time and not during any other period.

The “turrón” is a nougat bar, typically made of honey, sugar, and egg white, coated in crushed, toasted almonds. It’s usually shaped into a rectangular tablet or a round cake. It is mostly consumed as a traditional dessert for Christmas. (more…)
