Hi guys,

My name is Vahri, I’m the newest work experience recruit at Camino Barcelona! I arrived here about 3 weeks ago and I have loved every minute so far! Barcelona is one of the most welcoming cities I’ve been to; everyone I know who has been here raves on about how lucky I am to spend a year here so I hope there will be lots of good times ahead! I already feel at home here and I’m sure that you will feel the same if you decide to pay a trip to this amazing city! One thing that I LOVE about Barcelona is that you can never get bored! There is always some form of party to go to, a street festival or a cultural event going on. In my three weeks here I’ve already been to two massive street festivals and there are more to come!

Hello everyone!

My name is Cara and I am a new intern here at Camino Barcelona.

I will be spending six months working here as part of my degree in Modern Languages at Newcastle University, in England. As you may have heard before, Newcastle is a lively city, well known for its wild nightlife, but I am originally from a much quieter town (also in the north of England) called York.

As I’m more accustomed to smaller cities, Barcelona has been a big change for me! I particularly wanted to come here for my internship because, after studying a few months of Catalan, I learnt a lot about the vibrant and unique culture of this region. It seems to me that no where else offers such varied and interesting festivals that take place all year round. So whenever you choose to visit there’s always something spectacular to see and I’m really looking forward to getting involved over the next few months.

Hi everybody!

As we are currently preparing our lists of students for our next evening course, we thought it might be a good excuse to speak a little bit more about this course.  And as Victorien (our “official reporter” in the school) has done this course, we thought that the best way to speak about this option of classes would be to let him present it: 

Hey guys! This is Victorien. Last month, I have started the evening course, here at Camino. Unfortunately, Last Thursday was my last day. That is so sad because I have learnt so much. Since this course was highly beneficial, I have decided to give you more details about it:

First, if you study or work in Barcelona, this course is for you! A great majority of our students are Erasmus students or have just arrived in Barcelona and want to improve their Spanish skills.

This is Simona. Since I am leaving  the Camino team  in a few days, I wanted to tell you good bye and  invite you all in Czech Republic for Christmas!

Christmas is the most important day in Czech Republic. On Christmas Eve, people don’t work, stay with their family, cook, visit relatives, watch Christmas fairy tales on TV, and go sledging if there is snow…

I hope that you will apologize my interrupting our blogs about Christmas but I thought this entry might be useful to some of you!!!

A few days ago I had a chat with one of our students at Camino Barcelona who was wondering what it actually meant for a school to have a Cervantes Accreditation.

As this is quite a long issue important to take into account while looking for a school to study Spanish, I thought it might be worth it dedicating a whole blog.

For those who are not familiar with the term, “Instituto Cervantes” let me tell you that it is the official body which among many other things promotes the Spanish language & cultural activities and events together with other organizations, issues official Spanish Language Certificates and diplomas to Spanish students, controls the quality of Spanish teaching, organizes the DELE exam (Spanish as a foreign language) … If you want more information about the Cervantes Institute you will find this document very useful!

Hello everybody!

How are you? Are you all enjoying the great weather we have been having recently? It is so really so weird to walk with sunglasses and Tshirt a few weeks before Christmas, isn’t it? Soooo… Are you ready for a new christmas? Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? The final countdown has started: We only have 15 days left before opening our Champagne Bottles!!!

Last week, Simona, our work placement student from Czech Republic had a great idea: Since our team is VERY international, we decided we would try to write a few lines about how we spend Christmas in our respective countries.

Today Victorien will talk about the French Christmas tradition.

Hi all, This is Victorien!

As you may know, I come from France, that is why I´m going to explain everything  (or almost …) about Christmas in France.

Christmas in France usually starts on December 24th with the traditional ” Réveillon de Noel” (Christmas Eve) even if families start to decorate their home around 2 or 3 weeks before.

The main decoration is the Christmas tree which appeared for the first time in Alsace (East part of France) in the 14th century. It was decorated with apples and ribbons. Another important element of a French Christmas is the crib filled with “santons” (Christmas crib figures). (more…)

How are you? Getting ready for the winter season? As December is now around the corner, you must be already wondering what you will be doing for Christmas time!  Have you already thought of your presents, for example? or where you will spend Christmas, for example?

Again Victorien (our Work Placement guy that I will not have to introduce as it now his third blog!) decided he would give you more information about Christmas in Spain.

Hey guys! This is Victorien again!

Since there are only a few days left before Christmas, I have decided to dedicate this blog to this celebration. As you know, each country has its own traditions. In Spain, Christmas is according to what I have seen here until now not as commercial as in other countries. Lights in the streets are only lit the first week of December until Christmas day. The Christmas tree is quite common but only appears in the second half of December.
