Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Good afternoon everydody!

Today I am most delighted to introduce Anja 2you to another member of our team. Her name is Anja, she comes from Germany and she has been working with us for quite a long time already. If you are in the school, I am sure you must have met with her as she is always very keen on helping you all.

Anja is not going to introduce herself. She decided she would rather give you a helpful tip to enjoy your summer evenings in Barcelona.

Good afternoon!

I hope that you are all well and enjoying your stay in Barcelona!

If you are student in our school, you already probably know that we have quite a big friendly team always ready to help you out, inform you, make you feel at home. And Souad is one of them!

Libraries

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Good afternoon everybody!

I hope that you are all having a wonderful week!

It has been quite warm recently. That is nice for all of you that like going to the beach to get tanned or enjoy a nice book.

As many of our students have asked us where they could borrow books, I have a trick for you: Just go to your local library!

In Barcelona there are numerous public libraries with a great offer not only of books (in many languages!) and comics but also of DVD’s and music.
And you can borrow everything you want for free!

Nice terraces in Barcelona

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Good morning everybody!

Are you all enjoying the coming of spring? It is so nice when the days are longer, when the sky is blue and when the sun warms up the city: You wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and full of energy for the whole day!!!

Sooo, if you do not know what to do on a sunny day, why not taking the chance to explore one of the numerous terraces of the city and sip a nice “café con hielo”? (Ice coffee).

If you have just arrived in the city and have not yet found your favourite terrace, I have some few suggestions for you:

Good afternoon!CHARLIE 2 1

I hope that you all have had a great week-end and that you are ready to start this new week full of energy…

This time my blog will be a little different as the ones I usually write as I am not going to write a blog about what’s on in the city, swing music or movie (my weaknesses…) but about one conversation I have had this week with one of our students: Charlie.

Charlie was actually commenting upon one of his activities outside school: Flying airplanes.

And because we all thought it was surprising (and very unusual!), we asked him to explain (more…)

Sitges Film Festival: Zombies on the coast

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Hello everybody!

It has been a long time since I have not written on our blog. It is nice to be back!

If you are a movie goer and really enjoy science fiction or horror films, I have a good tip for you for this weekend: There is one festival that is currently taking place this week that you cannot miss. It is called the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia and as its name indicates, it takes place in the lovely village of Sitges.

After 40 years of existence this film festival has become THE meeting point for movie lovers. And no wonder why… The films they show every year are nearly impossible to see outside the festival and the atmosphere is FANTASTIC (and when I say fantastic I really mean fantastic! With the audience screaming in the cinema when the logo of the festival appears on the screen… loads and loads of people strolling in the little streets of the village, exhibitions, accessories to buy, appearances of famous directors, actors etc etc.).

Another really great point is that it takes place in one of the prettiest villages around Barcelona: Sitges.  Therefore if you have never had the opportunity to go there, this festival is a great opportunity to discover the entire village as the films are screened in 5 different venues. And if you are a student in our school, check regularly our blog because we often organize a day out in Sitges.

Every year I put a big post-it on my agenda not to forget to check their programme because there is one venue I particularly fancy: The ‘Teatro Grec’. (more…)

Hey everyone,

It is really a great pleasure for me to introduce this new entry!

As most of you probably know, Annie and Marie-Soleil (our two very friendly students from Montréal ) both work in Cavalia, the magic horse show that is currently taking place in the Forum. I first thought I would write about their show and then Marie-Soleil kindly suggested to give us her own presentation about the show:
