How is Halloween celebrated in Barcelona?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Hey everybody!

Once again and with great pleasure I am going to introduce one of our new team members Her name is Cassandra and she came directly from Trinity College in Connecticut to do a work placement among us.

She will stay with us for one month and will regularly keep you posted about “what’s going on” in Barcelona. Nice, isn’t it?

A few days before Halloween she thought that it might be interesting for you guys to read about this tradition in Spain.

And if you are in our school, do not forget to join our Activity Programme prepared by Pierre!

Cassandra, this is your turn!!!

With Halloween rapidly approaching, there is no better topic for my first Camino blog post!

¡Hasta pronto Adrienne!

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Good afternoon everybody!

I hope that you are all fine and enjoying fully these very sunny days to go to the beach… Lucky you! Adrienne

My blog today will be a little bit different as I will not speak about the millions of things you can do in the city when it is so warm but will simply give you the comments (and impressions) of a student who knows our school probably as much as we do as she stayed 28 weeks!!! During all this time not only has she attended our Intensive Course, but she has also participated in our DELE Preparation Course and our Business Spanish Course. Waow…

Her name is Adrienne and to give you an idea of how much she has learned while being in Barcelona, Adrienne arrived with some little knowledge of Spanish and left Camino Barcelona with a very fluent Spanish speaking about Politics, Economics, Cinema etc. etc. etc.

Adrienne, it is your turn!

“Hi!

After nearly half a year at Camino Barcelona, I would like to say that it’s the perfect place to make progresses quickly and of course also “disfrutar” (enjoy ;) Barcelona, meet friends and go out. (more…)

Vicky Cristina Barcelona

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a great time during “La Mercé”, I enjoyed so much the street concerts!

Today I would like to share with you my impressions on the last Woody Allen’s movie; Vicky Cristina Barcelona”.

An obvious reason to tell you about this movie is that… it was recorded in Barcelona! and of course, it’s a must see!!! You will see all the places that you have actually visited here in Barcelona (or you should have ;-)  ).

The film is a love comedy about two American girls, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson), who decide to spend their summer in Barcelona. The girls are two very different characters in search of adventure in Spain. Vicky is a very sensible and romantic girl, who loves the sound of Spanish guitar and believes in love forever and marriage. Cristina is the total opposite of her friend, very spontaneous, unsecure about what she wants to do in life… but she does for sure know what she does not want :P ! (more…)

Sonar Music Fest - NOT ONLY ELECTRONIC MUSIC

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Hello guys!! As you know in Barcelona there is always something going on. Today I want to tell you about one of the most popular festivals in Europe, the SONAR festival.

Sonar is an electronic music festival and this year it will be on the 19th, 20th and 21st of June. It takes place in three different stages in the city centre: ‘Centro de Cultura Contemporanea’ (CCCB), ‘Centro Macba’, and ‘Gran via 2′. Why in so many different places?? Because the festival is during the day and the night and it is not only music. It’s much more than that! To see location click here. (more…)

Primavera Sound Festival - Music in Barcelona!

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Hi everyone! Here I am again and this time with my own Blog profile :)

Hope you all are doing great and enjoying these sunny days in Barcelona. Talking about nice weather, here I have a really cool alternative to pass the last days of May and spring: Primavera Sound Festival

The festival runs from the 29th to the 31st of May and as I’ve heard it is now known as the “first party of the summer”. It’s like welcoming summer… Well, we all know the reputation of Spanish people… ‘fiesta, fiesta toda la noche’ :P . I really believe that it has nothing to do with the seasons of the year. It seems more to me as a kind of “excuse” to party. (more…)

Eurovision 2008

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Hola people! Barcelona calling :)

How are you all doing?

Probably many of you have heard that next week, between 20th and 24th of May the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Belgrade, Serbia.

I’m a big fan of this song competition, not so much of the songs, but much of the idea of having a European Festival. It’s funny to see how countries that had conflicts in the past end up voting for each other :D

The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the longest running television shows in the world. It first started on the 24th of May 1956 and was based upon the Italian Festival di San (more…)

Footbal match

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Hi everybody!

Had a nice weekend?!

Last night it was a very important footbal match in Barcelona. Barcelona vs. Celtic!! I am sure some of you are the lucky owners of a ticket! It was such an exciting game. When they played in Glasgow, FC Barcelona won!! Of course :-) and so they did yesterday! The matchs were really stretching, but in the end Barcelona beated Celtic.

The English and Scottish footbal is known for its Hooligans. So there were thousands of Celtic Glasgow supporters in the centre of Barcelona! There was even an ‘amusement’ area just for them!

This Sunday FC Barcelona plays here in Barcelona against Villareal!
