The “Aida” at the Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Hello everybody!!

If you like opera and in particular the Italian one :-) this is the best opportunity for you!

In fact, in Barcelona at the “Gran Teatre del Liceu” (”Liceu” Theatre) the “Aida”, one of Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpieces, is on stage until the 19th of January 2008!

‘El Liceu’ is one of the most elegant and beautiful Opera houses, in Barcelona and in the world! So just for visiting this emblematic building located in the famous ‘Ramblas’ it is worthy the visit, but if it’s combined with such a fantastic opera play, it’s double worthy!

Aida” is an opera made up of four acts and it was presented for the first time on the 24th of December 1871 at the teatre of Cairo, commissioned by Ismail Bajá, who inaugured this theatre in 1869, the very same year of the opening of the Suez Canal. (more…)

Visit to the Picasso Museum

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Hola a todos!Qué tal?

Finally yesterday I managed to take part in one of our school activities and I had the chance to go to the Picasso Museum…because actually I’ve never been there even if I’m living here in Barcelona since 2005!

And I can tell you that it’s really interesting and it’s a shame I didn’t go there before!

The Picasso Museum is located in Calle Montcada, in the heart of the Borne district, in one of Barcelona’s oldest buildings, the Aguilar Palace.

The museum is maybe not very big, as there also other artist’s works in Malaga (Picasso’s birth place) or in Madrid.

However, maybe not many people know that Picasso at the age of 14 moved with his family from Malaga to Barcelona and it’s here where he started studying at the Academy of Arts and painting. (more…)

Salsa in Barcelona

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

Hello everybody!!

Well well well… I know it doesn’t match with my “rock ‘n roll spirit”, but I definetly love salsa!!

I started 4 years ago when I was living in Malaga, thanks to a friend of mine who works as a salsa teacher.

Now, she’s living in Barcelona too and, because she knows all the best places in town, the very first thing I asked her when I moved here was: “Where can we go to dance salsa”?
And the answer was MOJITO CLUB!
