Where can we eat out near our Superior Accommodation?

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Dear all,

I hope you have had a fabulous Easter weekend! Me, I went to a city near Barcelona just to relax a bit.

It has been too long since I wrote in our blog for the last time, I was missing it! I was thinking about a good thing to write and suddenly I remembered one of the most repeated questions we get in the school reception desk: Where can we go for lunch/dinner today?

Taking into account that we are in the very city centre of Barcelona and that the available options are endless, I try to recommend students nice restaurants and bars to eat or drink which are on the way to their accommodation. And as most of our students stay now in our Superior apartments I normally tell them a good place on the way from the school to there. Superior accommodation is just 10 minutes walk from here, but there are plenty of options on the way! (more…)

“Must-see” places in Catalonia - Excursion to Montserrat

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Hello everybody!

How are you? I went to Germany for a short holiday trip 1 week ago. Unfortunately, it rained a lot, it was very cold (-3ºC) and we had snow… :-( As I arrived in Barcelona last Wednesday, I saw that there has been really sunny weather… I thought about what you could discover on those sunny day in Catalonia. So, pay attention and keep reading…

If you have time left for a day or weekend trip from Barcelona, I can propose various ideas… in the mountains, on the beach and cultural trips…

First of all, let me start with Montserrat. The mountain and monastery of Montserrat are one of the most important places in Catalonia. It is not only know for its beautiful landscape, but also for its historical and religious meaning. In one day you can visit the monastery, use the Funicular railways, walk around to discover the nature park or just taste the regional gastronomy. It is located 40 km from Barcelona and it’s a very important place for all the Catalans. Beside from being a natural reservation, Montserrat is also visited by thousands tourists every year from all over the world. (more…)

Barcelona: a Literary City

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Hello everybody!!

How are you all doing??

Today is a very nice day here in Barcelona! I’m also very happy because I am going to Italy for some days to visit my family and friends there!!! But even if I will be on holidays, I would first like to give you some tips for these days…

Today I’m going to talk to you about three novels, which action is set here in Barcelona, had a huge success internationally and I highly recommend to everybody!

As you probably know, I really love books and I hope one day I could have my own publishing house!

These 3 books I am going to talk to you about are not part of my academic studies, as I read them during my free time, but I definetly loved them! The books are:

“La Sombra del Viento” (”The shadow of the wind”) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón; “Nada” (”Nothing”) by Carmen Laforet and “La Catedral del Mar” ( “The Cathedral of the sea”) by Ildefons Falcones.

All these 3 writers are from Barcelona and they give very accurate descriptions of the city in 3 different historical periods. (more…)

Weekend in Barcelona

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Hi!

Like I have mentioned before, Barcelona is a great city! The city is very big and it has everything you need: a lot of shops in the centre, very good clubs, a beautiful beach and great restaurants! I am sure you will never be bored when you are in Barcelona. There are a lot of things you can do!

If you don´t like the beach you can go to the city centre. You can chill out on Plaza Catalunya or you can shop (´till you drop). There is also a very big shopping centre at the seaside, Marémagnum. You can also sit there on a chair and just watch people pass. This shopping centre is also opened on Sundays!
Last weekend I went on Friday night to Shoko. This is a great club at playa Barceloneta. After that we went to Catwalk, it is also a good club very close to Shoko. We had a wonderful night out!

In Barcelona you can also do a lot of other things! Last weekend I went to a very popular, interesting and fascinating exhibition in Museum Marítim.

Footbal match

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Hi everybody!

Had a nice weekend?!

Last night it was a very important footbal match in Barcelona. Barcelona vs. Celtic!! I am sure some of you are the lucky owners of a ticket! It was such an exciting game. When they played in Glasgow, FC Barcelona won!! Of course :-) and so they did yesterday! The matchs were really stretching, but in the end Barcelona beated Celtic.

The English and Scottish footbal is known for its Hooligans. So there were thousands of Celtic Glasgow supporters in the centre of Barcelona! There was even an ‘amusement’ area just for them!

This Sunday FC Barcelona plays here in Barcelona against Villareal!
