Concerts at the ‘Palau de la Música’

Have you ever seen a concert at the Palau de la Música?

Did you know they don’t only have classical concerts but also Pop, Rock, Cabaret and Jazz music?

Just try to imagine one second a group like Tindersticks playing their elegant pop music in such a beautiful place! It is just magical, very very different… a pure delight!!! The place is so amazing that I also saw Ute Lemper (twice!!!), la Locomotora Negra (a swing band from Barcelona), Arab Strap, Ryutchi Sakamoto and believe me, even though the tickets are a bit expensive, I never regretted it!

If you have never had the opportunity to see this fantastic building, just check their website and you will discover the beautiful main Concert Hall (and its great central skylight), the foyer (where you can sip a glass of cava during the intermission!!!), the amazing modernist decoration of the building, in a few words: THE jewel of the Modernist buildings. (To me, at least!)

I checked their program this week and noticed 2 very notable concerts:

- Juliette Greco, an emblem of Paris’ bohem life and the nymph of the post-war poets (on Thursday the 13th of December, 9h30pm). If you missed her when she came to the Grec festival, you now have a second chance! And if you want to have an idea of her repertoire (or if you are nostalgic of Paris…), check this video and don’t forget she is almost 80 year old now!!!!!

and,

- Marlena Smalls and the Hallellujah Gospel Choir, one of the biggest figures in American Gospel (On Friday 14th of December, 9h00pm). Her show “This is my story” is a tribute to Africo-American musical history. I also read she had participated in Forrest Gump… As Mrs. Blue…

Like I said before the entrances are a bit expensive but if you like this kind of music, it is really worth the experience!!! Otherwise, we organize regular visits to the ‘Palau de la Música’, don’t miss the next one!

¡Hasta pronto!

Sandrine

Wow! The Palau de la musica looks beautiful! I will definitely make sure I schedule a visit next time I’m in Barca! :)

  2. Sandrine Says:

Yes Zoey, it is really worth the visit! (And in the same area as the Picasso Museum, the Borne, the Park of the Ciudadella.)
    Don’t miss it!

  3. Elisa Says:

hey I saw it from the outside some time ago, lokks very interessting. I unfortunately did not take any picturesof the colourful outside walls butt it is on my to-do-list before I go home. I know it wasn´t intentional but you reminded me, therefor thank you.

  4. Lara Says:

I definitely agree with you. I went there for the “Concierto de Primavera” and the atmosphere was just magical. It is a shame I wasn’t allowed to take pictures!

  5. Elisa Says:

So you can take pictures from the outside, but not from the inside? Seems a pity, but I understand the logic, they will probably try to sell official pictures.

  6. Sandrine Says:

    Dear Elisa and Lara,
I am glad this information was useful to you!
