Don’t dream it, do it!
¡Hola!
My name is Felipe Leindecker. I lived and grew up in Brazil but I moved to Cologne, Germany, some years ago. I am now in Barcelona, last week I started my Work Experience in Camino Barcelona. Our colleague Verena is going back to Germany and I am staying until the end of November.
In Germany I study International Trade and Applied Languages. I am learning German, Spanish, English and Italian. My native language is Portuguese. As part of my University course, I have to do an Internship in a foreign country where one of the above mentioned languages are spoken. The first place I thought of was Barcelona.
I visited Barcelona for the first time 4 years ago, and I absolutely loved it! I did not want to go back to Germany ever again after that, but I had to do it. In these 4 years I have visited other places around Europe and South America, and I can certainly say that I did not like anywhere else like I loved Barcelona.
Barcelona is an amazing place, and like Cologne, was founded by the Romans. We can see traces of this civilisation in different areas and museums in the city. And following with the historical Barcelona, we are in the city with most Middle Age archictectural works in Europe. In general, Art comes with a capital A in Barcelona, the city itself is a work of art designed by Gaudi, Domenech i Muntaner, etc, and museums offer a wide range of works by Internationally renowned artists like Picasso, Dali or Miro. My favourite art work in Barcelona is the sculpture by Frank Gerry that you can see between the twin towers on Barceloneta Beach, I think it is called the fish!
I am very happy of having the chance to work here in Camino Barcelona, because I will then be able to learn Spanish, visit the city without hurry and meeting lots of people in such a culturally rich city!
¡Hasta pronto!
Felipe

Hi Felipe,
Barcelona sounds amazing! I really love art and architecture too. I’d love to go there one day and see it. It sounds really inspiring and interesting and maybe I’ll have to visit after I graduate!
Hope you have fun on the rest of your trip!
