El Sonar - Barcelona’s International Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art
Back again and this time not with our school activities…
Today I am going to introduce one of our new team members. Her name is Marine and she is from France.
She has been working with us for about two months (time goes fast!) and she will stay with us until the end of June. As everyone who comes to Barcelona, Marine also fell in love with this city and she will keep you up to date with the latest event in Barcelona. We are having lots of festivals this summer…
Hi everyone! My name is Marine and I’m doing my internship at Camino Barcelona. As you might know, there are always things to do here in Barcelona! Today I will tell you more about a music festival I really want to discover: “El Sonar”.
“El Sonar” is one of the most popular festivals in Europe. It takes place each year, in Barcelona, since 1984. If you like music, concerts and want to know everything about electronic art, you have to be part of this festival!
The festival will run on 17th, 18th and 19th of June. The Sonar is a 3 days uninterrupted music festival that will take place in three different stages: Centro de Cultura Contemporánea (CCCB) and Centro MacBa during the day and in Fira Gran Via during the night because during these 3 days the music won’t stop! To see location click here.
The Sonar does not only offer concerts, but also conferences, workshops, courses, debates and exhibitions about the last tendencies of electronic music, multimedia art and cinema.
Speaking about cinema, you will also enjoy the film “Finisterrae”: the enigmatic and surrealistic story of two ghosts tired of wandering which decide to make the Way of Saint James. Extracts of the road movie could be seen on the webpage of Sonar next week!
Music is by far the main aspect of this festival: You will enjoy concerts from the Chemical Brothers, Air, LCD Soundsystem, and it will also be a great occasion to discover new artists! You can discover the bands that will take part on the festival on SonarRadio.

This year the Grec festival and the Sonar festival come together on the 17th June 2010. The joint production will take place in the Teatre Grec of Barcelona. Ryoji Ikeda, a Japanese artist, will present its amasing light show.
I can tell you more about this festival, but the only way to feel the atmosphere of this special festival is to come to Barcelona! You will have a really good time at the Sonar, with a lot of people who just want to enjoy good music and make new friends…just like you!
Cheers,
Marine
