FC Barcelona present their squad for the 2007-08 season
One thing you ought to know about Spain is its chronic passion about football. Nearly every big city in Spain has got its representative in the Spanish “Primera División” and Barcelona is obviously not an exception. FC Barcelona or “Barça” (short name used by locals) is actually considered one of the giants of world football and awakens a great deal of interest and admiration across the planet.
That’s why our students are already counting down the minutes till Wednesday in the evening, when one of their teachers will have the honour to take them to the legendary Camp Nou and enjoy a live match.
After missing out to win the third league title in a row last May, as well as all the competitions they were meant to fight for, ”Barça” are determined to get their honor back this season.
Touré Yaya, Eric Abidal, Gabi Milito and Thierry Henry (the latter on the picture below), all of them deemed world class players, have joined this summer Ronaldinho, Eto’o, Messi and company to build one of the strongest teams -not only of the moment but also in history.
Like every year since 1966, FC Barcelona organise at the end of August a friendly game against a prestigious european team, so that the fans have the chance to get familiar with the new signings and, of course, see them in live action for the first time. The whole event is called “Trofeu Joan Gamper“, honouring the club’s founding member. After AC Milan and Bayern Munchen in the past two editions, this year it’s Inter’s turn, one of the most competitive teams in Italy and Europe of all times. The swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic (on the picture) will surely be one of the biggest atractions on Inter’s side.

On Wednesday 29th August from 9:30 pm at the Camp Nou, the official squad and the technical staff for the 2007-08 season will be presented to their fans and the action will start at 10 pm.
In spite of the fact that it’s just a friendly game, I think we will see a lovely game, as both squads are full of talent and it will be a good chance for them to test their shape.

Hi Jordi
I already visited the Camp Nou with my friends, unfortunately we didn’t watch a match, only walked around. But it’s really fantastic and amazing standing near the field. The stadion is so hugh! I’m sure, one day, I will also watch a game in the Camp Nou.
PS: it’s great that you offer your students this possibility!

Hi!
Just wanted to confirm that Spaniards are indeed very passionate about football and when you come to Barça when there´s a game you can really sense the great atmosphere full of excitement and enthusiasm in the streets!
And yes, although I´m a girl, I am too converted to a big football fan (off course Barça fan) since I live in Barça. Last year I visited Camp Nou and also went to a game there. Wow!! I can tell you it really is an incredible experience and the enthusiasm of the other thousands of people you´re surrounded with, made me also jump up my chair and scream ´booooh´ or wave with a newspaper… Leaving my friends shocked, because they never expected that from a ´quiet and calm´ girl like me
