Latin-American cuisine in Barcelona…¡¡¡¡¡Qué rico!!!!!!
Good afternoon all!
I think we all agree that Spain has some wonderful culinary offerings…those famous cured meats and juicy paellas… mmmmm! But if you have eaten tapas every night for the past week, maybe it’s time to try something a bit different and introduce your tastebuds to the many wonders of Latin-American cuisine!
I have quite a few Latin-American friends here in Barcelona and so have now become quite familiar with all these wonderful new tastes and smells….boy can they cook! But if you don’t happen to know any Mexicans and fancy trying some authentic ‘enchiladas’, don’t worry - there are lots of really good Latin-American restaurants in Barcelona!
Here are 2 of my personal favourites:
Restaurante Hugo: This is a great little Chilean restaurant close to the Borne district. The decor is really cosy and very typical (so my Chilean friends say…). Delicious dishes to try include the empanadas (pastry pockets filled with meat, olives and lots of spices), Pastel de Choclo (a pie made of corn) and Ceviche (fresh fish in a lemon-juice sauce). Yum!
Cantina Machito: Here you can find authentic Mexican food! The tables are small and intimate and the atmosphere young and funky. But, most importantly, the food is divine! My favourite dish is the chicken in ’Mole’, a strange but delicious sauce of spices, nuts, chillies and many other things… including chocolate!!! The cocktails are also very good - watch out for the tequila though, it’s stronger than it tastes!!!
These are just two great places, but there are lots out there! To help you choose a few, have a look a this online restaurant guide! Buen Provecho!
