Magic spectacle of water, music and light!!

Hello everybody!

Today I’m glad to introduce you to a new member of our team, Sonia! You probably have already seen her smiling face at reception :) Sonia has a great suggestion for you to do this weekend. I will let her speak about it!

Hi guys!!! I’m Sonia and I’m from Andorra (the small country up in the mountains), I’ve been living in London for almost 4 years and I missed Spain so much that I couldn’t wait to be back, now living in Barcelona, enjoying the lovely sun and nice atmosphere of this exciting city!!!

Today I have a great place for you to go!!! It’s the magic fountains of Montjuic, and you may be thinking…. a fountain… what can be so special about a fountain??? Well let me tell you, this one is not a plain fountain as you will see!!!

First a little bit of history about it. The fountain was created in 1929 by ‘Carles Buigas’ which is also the name of the square where it is located. If you go around the place during the day you may think: Yes it is a big and beautiful fountain but, magic??  The fountain comes alive at night when the show starts. Different spotlights change completely the atmosphere and in a moment the water of the fountain becomes a beautiful waterfall of colours. At the same time, the sound of the music creates a perfect harmony and an amazing dance of the different water springs, this will hypnotize you and won’t let you go during the 20 minutes the show last. Believe me, when the spectacle finish you will want to see it again!!!!

If you want to enjoy this beautiful show you can go Thursday to Sunday from 21:30 pm ’till 23:00pm. Every half hour there is a show which lasts 20 minutes and there is a break of 10 minutes between them. All this amazing experience you can have it for free.

You can get there by tube with the Line 1(red), Line 3(green) and get off at Plaza España or you can take any bus to plaza España and then walk down to the end of ‘Avenida Cristina’.

I really recommend you to see the show!!! Usually it is a little bit crowded so I would recommend you to go there early and get a nice spot near the fountain. I’m sure you will enjoy it!!!
