Nice terraces in Barcelona

Good morning everybody!

Are you all enjoying the coming of spring? It is so nice when the days are longer, when the sky is blue and when the sun warms up the city: You wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and full of energy for the whole day!!!

Sooo, if you do not know what to do on a sunny day, why not taking the chance to explore one of the numerous terraces of the city and sip a nice “café con hielo”? (Ice coffee).

If you have just arrived in the city and have not yet found your favourite terrace, I have some few suggestions for you:

The Jardí (Calle Hospital, 56. Metro Liceu).   This place is probably my favourite one. I just LOVE going there any time of the day: For a breakfast in the morning (you can have muesli and yogurt), for a nice coffee with brownie during the day or simply to have a glass of wine with a friend in the evening.

The Jardí is like an oasis right in the middle of the busy town centre as it is hidden in the gardens of the old “Hospital de Santa Creu” (the old Gothic Hospital of the Wholly Cross), currently the National Libray of Catalonia. So do not forget to take the address before going there. If not you might not find it!

There is another nice café with terrace a few streets from the Jardí Bar. The café is called the Kasparo and it is also a good place to go to if you want to be isolated from the city noise and cars:

The Kasparo. (Pl. Vicens Martorell, 4. Metro Plaza Catalunya).

This café is perfect if you feel like having something to eat at any time of the day as its kitchen is open all day long. They serve local tapas, sandwiches, wine, cava (local champagne). It is with no doubt another great place to go to for sunny days!
If you would rather go on a terrace on the other side of the Rambla, close to the Borne, I have two other suggestions for you:

There is one very unformal pizza restaurant I particularly like in that side of the street: It is called Pizza Paco and it is situated in the Allada Vermell Plaza, right at the end of Calle Princesa. They also serve a nice white wine if you only want to have an aperitif with friends!

Another nice place you cannot miss as far as terraces are concerned is the “Paseo del Borne”. It has many cafés and terraces. If you are lucky this day you might find an available table at the Rosal Bar. (They serve nice Indian Food).

The best metro to arrive to this part of the city is probably Jaume I.

And finally, if you are one of our lucky students staying in our onsite appartments, do not forget to go to our roof-terrace: There is a fantastic Chill Out area ideal to get tanned (there is even a shower for when it getting really warm!!) or simply have lunch before or after your classes.

Oh well… I could go on forever on that subject as there are many nice terraces in the city.

Please feel free to complete the list if you have any suggestions! I only covered two areas of the city!!!

Have a great sunny day!

Sandrine
