Hi everyone!!! This summer is full of sports’ emotions and especially for Spain, who lastly seems to be winning always :P. After the European football championship ‘08, where Spain was the winner 
… we are thinking to update you with news from the Olympic Games 2008.
The original Olympic Games were first recorded in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece (and there is where they got the name from). Every four years men from all over Greece were gathered in a sport festival to honor their gods Zeus and Hera.
The Olympic Games are now divided into summer and winter Olympic Games. This year, the Summer Olympic Games will take place in China, in the capital Beijing. As many of you come from different countries and even different continents, it would be great to open the school blog in the morning and get some news (mostly 
) about Spain and of course your countries too. In the last Olympic Games in Athens, the country with most gold medals was USA, the second runner up was China and in the third place Russia. Australia, Japan, Italy, Great Britain, Germany etc. are countries in the top ten for gold medals. We hope this year Spain will get as many medals as possible, since it’s really going well for sports in general, individual and in groups. So, GO SPAIN!!!
Back, to Beijing…which is actually prepared to start these Olympic Games on 8th August until 24th August. 31 sportive arenas, 59 training centres and 6 new gigantic stadiums were constructed in Beijing. Among them, the most spectacular one is the National Stadium of Beijing, which looks like a wedding ring’s stone; this is the pride of the organization committee. Its capacity is of 100,000 places and cost 325 million euros. Beijing’s metro system has also changed, from 64 stations to 140 stations all over the city!!!
China wants to astonish the world and is using all its outfits to do it. And how have the organisers thought to do that? Well, using the oldest arm of all: a girl’s beauty. About 100,000 young girls from all over China were elected to be usherette of the male players. Unfair!!! Since there is nothing like this for the girl players 
.
The hostels, the security, the Olympic arenas, all the Chinese people are ready, everything seems to be under control for the Olympic Games 2008… and we are ready too
