Sitges’ Carnival!

Hello everybody!

If you are thinking about coming to Barcelona within the next 2 weeks, I’m happy to tell you that Carnival celebrations are coming here and they are expected to be as spectacular as ever!

As many of you probably know, I’m from Venice and our Carnival is maybe one of the most famous ones all around the world! People usually start to prepare their own costumes and masks the year before, just after the Carnival, in order to be ready for it!

However, also here in Spain there will be such big celebrations and one of the best places to go is Sitges! This city, located near Barcelona, besides being famous for its wonderful beaches, is also well-known fro its unique Carnival, the second one in Spain in terms of dimensions and parties, after Tenerife!

This year, it will start Thursday the 31st of January, and they will go on until the 6th of February (”Fat Tuesday”) and during that week Sitges will be litterally invaded by thousands of toursits and masks!

There will be parades all around the city and all the best clubs in town will give many colourful and crazy parties like in Rio de Janeiro!

And don’t forget the coronation of the queen of the Carnival ( and from this year also of “baby queen”), who will show up in her wagon every day, except Sunday and Tuesday !

So what are you waiting for? Sitges is easily accessible by car or by train, from the train station located in Paseo de Gracia! I suggest you to go there at night with the last train and then to spend the whole night there until the sun rises!

Have fun and see you there!

Stef
