Sitges Film Festival: Zombies on the coast
Hello everybody!
It has been a long time since I have not written on our blog. It is nice to be back!
If you are a movie goer and really enjoy science fiction or horror films, I have a good tip for you for this weekend: There is one festival that is currently taking place this week that you cannot miss. It is called the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia and as its name indicates, it takes place in the lovely village of Sitges.
After 40 years of existence this film festival has become THE meeting point for movie lovers. And no wonder why… The films they show every year are nearly impossible to see outside the festival and the atmosphere is FANTASTIC (and when I say fantastic I really mean fantastic! With the audience screaming in the cinema when the logo of the festival appears on the screen… loads and loads of people strolling in the little streets of the village, exhibitions, accessories to buy, appearances of famous directors, actors etc etc.).
Another really great point is that it takes place in one of the prettiest villages around Barcelona: Sitges. Therefore if you have never had the opportunity to go there, this festival is a great opportunity to discover the entire village as the films are screened in 5 different venues. And if you are a student in our school, check regularly our blog because we often organize a day out in Sitges.
If you check Sitges Film Festival programme, it is very possible you do not know many of the Films screened. Therefore feel free to check their very useful “trailers section” And do not forget to book your entrance before going there. This festival is very popular so sometimes films are fully booked.
And now the best tip: If you are interested in going to Sitges this Friday, do not miss their “Eastpack zombie walk” that will start at 7:00 pm with the starting gun fired by the famous film director George A. Romero from the Miramar Building and finish in the center of Sitges at 9:00 pm. For more information about this zombie walk (or if you are willing to participate in their walk), check their website.
This spooky walk will finish with a “Zombie Concert” with groups such as Los Tikis Phantoms, Motorzombis, Secret Army etc. And for more details about the concerts, feel free to go to their myspace webpage.
As far as transports are concerned, Sitges is easily accessible by car or by train, from the train station located in Paseo de Gracia! There will be night buses going from Sitges (Passeig de Villafranca) to Barcelona from 11:45 pm to 3:50 am.
And if you are ready to turn this adventure into a horror film, just spend the night there and see whether you turn yourself into a zombie… The first train in the morning is scheduled at 4:49 am.
Are you ready for high emotions? And if you go there, feel free to give me your impressions! (Or send photographs!!!)
¡Hasta pronto!
Sandrine
