The ‘MOMENT’ has arrived!

The football ‘Champions League’ is back and it couldn’t come in a worse moment for the current winner, ¡BARÇA!.

We lost against Valencia yesterday and we are not leaders in solitaire of the Spanish ‘Liga’ anymore. The team is not playing as good as everybody remembers from last year and there have been a few problems between players (name it ‘Eto’o has opened his bigmouth again’).

For some people the situation is not so bad, we’re still ‘alive’ on the three main competitions for the season. That may be true, but they’re not playing so well as we know they can do and it’s now when the important matches start, do you think we are going to still be competing on this 3 competitions in one month? I do hope so, but let me doubt it.

I feel like Barça it’s not ’stepping on the accelerator’, you only have to see them playing! For me, it looks like they’ve been waiting for the important matches to put the 5th gear, but these have already started and they’re still on the 4th one!

Somebody could think I’m not a Barça fan reading the above and it’s not true, it’s just that it frustrates me seeing them playing not so good as we all know they can do. However, don’t worry, on Wednesday we’ll see the Barça of the best moments, because Barça is defending their European Cup, they play against Liverpool and their pride will be on the playground as well!

Liverpool, get ready for Wednesday, your moment has arrived, no team can stop Barça on the road to Athens! This year we’re going to win the European Cup as well!

In Barcelona there are plenty of bars where you can see the match, I recommend you the ‘Irish’ bars, as they normally have big screens and lot of atmosphere.

I’ll get my Barça scarf and t-shirt and go with my friend Simon to see the match. It’s funny, he’s from Liverpool, but he’s in Barcelona this week. Poor guy, he’ll have to suffer the crowds on the city shouting and throwing fireworks with every goal Barça scores!

I say 3-0, what’s your bet? ;-)

Yo digo que ganamos 3-0, ¿tú que dices?

Jordi

Vamos a ganar, sin ninguna duda!

  2. Mund Says:

    Hi Jordi,
As a Liverpool fan I cannot agree with you 3-0 score prediction. I think that Liverpool will take advantage of unrest within the Barça team. However, i do think it will be a very good game and the scoreline will be close but I think Liverpool will come away with a 1-0 win. I can’t wait for the match or the return leg at Anfield in two weeks.

    Mund

    Hi Maite and Mund,
Well, Barça has to get a good result in Barcelona, because it’ll be difficult in L’pool.
However, I agree with you that it will be two fantastic games to see and enjoy, I was enjoy watching Barça win ;-)

  4. El Chino Says:

Ooohhh Papa Eto’o will not play tonight!!!! He even will not be in the bench. Jordi…these are very bad news.

  5. Mund Says:

That is great news, I cannot wait for tonight. Come on you Reds!

  6. Jordi Says:

Well, the good thing about Barça is that we don’t rely on one player only. If Eto’o is not in good form (or so he has wanted to make believe everybody) then it’s normal he doesn’t play.
Don’t worry, we have “el conejo” Saviola that will be a nightmare for the tall L’pool defenders!

By the way! I forgot to mention on a previous post http://www.caminobarcelona.com/blog/archive/a-night-out-with-our-students/
that we met Saviola on the disco! At City Hall!!!
He was very well accompanied and we decided not to disturb him…
He was drinking an energetic drink to get ready for tonight’s match ;-)

  7. Mund Says:

An energy drink is no preparation for a big game! Liverpool prepared properly by going to Portugal and getting completely drunk, singing at a karaoke and then fighting with each other on the golf course. I have heard that Craig Bellamy will be taking his putter on the pitch so the Barça defenders will have to watch out!

  8. Rosanna Says:

    Hola Jordi,
para mí 1-0, ¡¡¡gracias al gol de Zambrotta!!!!
    ¡Qué nacionalista que soy! ;P

  9. Mund Says:

    Hola Jordi,

What a game… What a result… I think a fair result would have been 2-2 but I am very happy to see the Mighty Reds win. :D

  10. El Chino Says:

I have no words to describe the game yesterday…Barça players are supposed to be more “inteligent”. So now…we can just fight for the Spanish League

  11. Jordi Says:

Thank you everybody for your support (I don’t know if this is an ironic statement or not… you decide)
To be honest, I’m still on shock and have no words.
I’ll just say that we might have lost a battle, but we haven’t lost the war! Was it Arsenal who made Spanish Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Reina, to make think himself, ‘that’s not a job for me?’
Was it 6 or 7 goals?
Was it Bárça who won Arsenal last year, in Paris I heard ;-)
Following my calculations, I predict a L’pool 2 Barça 10 for the return leg :D
