Barcelona es una de las ciudades más cosmopolitas del mundo, pero eso no significa que no se pueda seguir disfrutando de algunas de las tradiciones más populares.

Por ejemplo, recuerdo cuando era niño y nos juntábamos en casa de mis abuelos a hacer una de esas “comilonas” familiares. Todos los mayores bebían siempre de un recipiente muy extraño: el porrón.

Intentaré explicar en qué consiste: Si véis el porrón de la foto, tenéis que cogerlo por el cuello y acercar la punta a la boca. Cuando la bebida empieza a caer, normalmente vino o cerveza, tenéis que alejarlo de la boca tanto como podáis. El efecto es muy refrescante ¡y las risas están aseguradas!

Hay sitios por el Barrio Gótico de Barcelona donde puedes beber en porrón y tiendas donde comprarlos En la escuela, organizamos frecuentemente una comida en un restaurante típico catalán (Cal Boter) donde siempre nos ponen porrones para beber. Prueba la próxima vez a beber de porrón, pero ten cuidado ¡no te salpiques!

Traditions on the 21st Century

Barcelona is a very cosmopolitan city, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy of the most popular traditions.As an example, I remember when I was a child that we used to gather all my family together at my grandparents house. I was amazed about the way the ‘elder’ used to drink, they drank from a strange thing, the ‘porrón’.

I’ll try to explain what this is about: if you see the ‘porron’ in the picture, you have to take it from the neck and get the spout close to your mouth. When the drink starts falling, normally wine or beer, tilt the porron back as much as you can. The drink comes very refreshing and the laughs are instant!There are places in the ‘Gothic Quarter’ in Barcelona where you can order ‘porrones’ to drink and also shops where you can buy them. At the school, we frequently organize a meal out with students in a tipical Catalan restaurant (Cal Boter) where they always grant us with drinks in ‘porrones’. Next time try to drink from a ‘porron’ but be sure you aim carefully to avoid spillage
