Vicky Cristina Barcelona

Hi everyone!
I hope you had a great time during “La Mercé”, I enjoyed so much the street concerts!
Today I would like to share with you my impressions on the last Woody Allen’s movie; “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”.
An obvious reason to tell you about this movie is that… it was recorded in Barcelona! and of course, it’s a must see!!! You will see all the places that you have actually visited here in Barcelona (or you should have
).
The film is a love comedy about two American girls, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson), who decide to spend their summer in Barcelona. The girls are two very different characters in search of adventure in Spain. Vicky is a very sensible and romantic girl, who loves the sound of Spanish guitar and believes in love forever and marriage. Cristina is the total opposite of her friend, very spontaneous, unsecure about what she wants to do in life… but she does for sure know what she does not want
!

The real story begins when the Spanish painter ‘Juan Antonio’ (the last year’s Oscar winner, Javier Bardem) (who is still involved with his ex-wife ‘María Elena’-Penelope Cruz) walks over them in a restaurant and… you will have to see it to know what happens next!
I loved the photography of this movie!!! Barcelona looks so great, romantic and well-tourist-guided! You will see some obvious places (Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, Park Güell…) and others not so obvious, like the high area of Barcelona -Pedralbes, Tibidabo and such-.
I also liked a lot the restaurants that appear and that reflect perfectly a romantic night in Barcelona!
However, my favourite moment is when Vicky and Cristina are chatting on a terrace, close to the end of the movie. I saw them as they were recording this scene!!! I was going to the school to work and saw lots of people in Rambla Catalunya forming a circle around a terrace I used to have lunch at. My surpirse was when I discovered that Woody Allen himself and his hat were there, just around the corner from the school, shooting with Scarlett Johansson! My brother was so jealous!
You have to love the movie, you will see yourself in so many spots seen in the movie…
Below you can watch the trailer of the movie (I really liked the soundtrack, although I still struggle to understand the words. It’s catchy
):
Hope you enjoy the movie!
Take care,
Genta
N.B. By the way! Do not try to find the Spanish School where Vicky-Rebecca Hall is attending Spanish lessons, it is actually a Hospital! A beautiful modernist hospital, but not a school indeed…
