Virgin voyage to the Sitges Carnaval!
Hello again everyone!
Today I have a very shameful confession to make! I have been living in Barcelona for 3 years and on Tuesday I had my FIRST EVER experience of the Sitges Carnaval! I know, I know….unforgivable! But don’t worry, on Tuesday I did lots of catching up!
Before the big event I had read reports by Rocio (school director) and Laura (one of our favourite students
) but I still wasn’t prepared for what I saw!!! I have to agree with Laura - there were LOTS of men dressed very convincingly as women…all a little too convincing for my liking…most had better legs than me!
But what I found really amazing was the originality and creativity that went into some of the outfits! We saw one girl parading the streets in a shower-cap, surrounded by a card-board shower unit, complete with shower-curtain! 3 other bright sparks went as blocks from the game Tetrix! Check out this video of the party in full swing:
The Camino staff - me, Rosanna and Natalia - opted for less complicated designs but it was still a lot of fun - you can see us in the picture here! I hear that lots of our students also made it to the carnaval - we went with Monica (dressed as a devil), Lise (an angel), Stephanie, Elisa and Margaux (all adorned with crazy wigs, hats and other props!) and they all looked fantastic!
I can say that my first Carnaval experience was a great success….how was your’s???
