El fin de semana pasado vino mi familia desde Málaga a visitarme y celebrar mi cumpleaños ( lo siento, pero no os diré mi edad!!!! ). Algunos de ellos no habían estado nunca en Barcelona, así que tuvimos que planificar muy intensivamente el sábado porque querían ver lo más posible.

Last weekend my family came from Malaga to Barcelona to visit me and to celebrate my birthday (Sorry! but I will not tell you my age!!!). Some of them had never been in Barcelona so we had to plan very intensively the Saturday because they wanted to see as much as possible.

A continuación te explico nuestro plan intensivo 24 horas por si alguien te visita, como a mí, en un sólo fin de semana, y queréis descubrir el máximo de esta única ciudad.

I will explain you then, our 24 intensive plan in case somebody visits you ONLY for one weekend, and you want to discover as much possible this city.

• No te levantes muy tarde, comienza a las 10 de la mañana o antes, y lo primero, toma el metro o el autobús desde donde te encuentres y con la línea 3 (verde-en dirección Canyelles) comienza tu día en Carrer Gran de Gracia cerca de la estación de metro de Fontana. Desde allí camina por la calle hacia Travessera de Gracia (o sea, dirección hacia el mar) y disfruta de la gran cantidad de tiendas y de los edificios modernistas y los bonitos balcones de cristales de algunos de ellos.
• Don´t get up very late, start at ten or before, and take the bus or the metro from where you are and with the line 3 (green line to Canyelles) start the day from Fontana Metro Station. From there, walk down the street towards Travessera de Gracia and enjoy the shops, the modernist buildings and the beautiful glass balconies in some of them.

• Cuando llegues al final de la calle, apreciarás el fantástico edificio del hotel Casa Fuster a la izquierda, a partir de ahí, comenzamos a pasear por la ancha y lujosa avenida de Paseo de Gracia. En esta calle podrás comprar (o sólo mirar los escaparates) de las tiendas de los grandes diseñadores como Dolce Gabanna, Christian Dior, Cartier, Loewe… Además podrás admirar la famosa Pedrera de Gaudí a la izquierda y la famosa casa Batlló, a tu derecha y muy cerca de nuestra escuela.
• When you get to the end of the street, you will appreciate the fantastic building of the hotel Casa Fuster on the left, and from there, we started walking through the wide and luxurious Avenue of Paseo de Gracia. Here you will be able to buy (or just look the shop-windows) in famous shops like Dolce Gabanna, Christian Dior, Cartier, Loewe… and also you can admire the famous Pedrera of Gaudí on the left side and the Casa Batlló, on you right, very close to our school.
• Paseo de Gracia termina en la bonita Plaza de Cataluña, punto central de la ciudad. Allí podrás comprar en los famosos grandes almacenes del Corte Inglés o tomar una copa en el Hard Rock Café, muy popular para los estudiantes de Barcelona.
• Paseo de Gracia ends up in the nice Plaza de Cataluña, central point of the city. There you can go shopping in the most popular Spanish store, El Corte Inglés or have a drink in Hard Rock Café, a very popular place for students.
• En el lado derecho de la plaza, encontramos el comienzo de las Ramblas de las Flores con sus estatuas vivientes y miles de turistas y “no turistas” paseando a cualquier hora y cualquier día de la semana.
• On the right side of the square we find the beginning of the Ramblas de las Flores with its living statues and thousands of tourists and “no tourists” walking up and down at any time of the day and any day of the week.
• Sobre la 13:30 llegamos al final de las Ramblas y nos hicimos fotos en los leones que rodean la estatua de Colón y que con un dedo señala en dirección a América. Desde allí caminamos hacia el Maremagnum, el imponente centro comercial que se adentra en el mar. Si lo rodeas por el lado de la izquierda, pasamos el Cine IMAX y llegamos de nuevo a tierra, y al comienzo de Via Laietana.
• Around 13:30 we arrived to the end of the Ramblas and we took pictures in the lions that surround the statue of colombus that with his finger points towards America. From there we walked to the Maremagnum, the big shopping center built inside the sea. Going around the left side, we passed the IMAX cinema and arrived again to land and to the beginning of via Laietana.
• Caminamos hasta la mitad de la calle y allí, serían sobre las 14:30, tomamos la bonita calle Argenteria llena de tiendas y bares que nos llevó hasta la Iglesia de Santa María del Mar, ejemplo de gótico puro construída entre 1319-1320. Al rodear la iglesia, sales al Paseo del Borne lleno de restaurantes. Almorzamos en un pequeño restaurante, Origen 99, y desde allí sobre las 16:30 entramos en la antigua calle Montcada que te lleva al bonito Museo Picasso, que si tienes tiempo hay que visitar obligatoriamente.
• We walked to the middle of the street and there around 14:30, we took the beautiful Argenteria street full of shops and bars that took us to the church Santa Maria del Mar, an example of pure gothic, built between 1319 and 1320. When going around the church, you enter el Paseo del Borne full of restaurants. There we had lunch in a Origen 99 and around 16:30 we entered the old Montcada street, that takes you to the Picasso museum, that if you have time, you really have to visit.
• Al final de la calle, terminamos en Princesa y al subir la calle, cruzamos la Vía Laietana para adentrarnos en el Barrio Gótico. Subimos LLibreteria y como hacía muy buen tiempo, tomamos un helado y admiramos la plaza del Rei a la derecha y la famosa plaza San Jaume al final de la calle. Los edificios del Ayuntamiento y de la Generalitat de Cataluña, son simplemente increíbles. Desde allí subimos por la calle Bisbe, una de las calles más bonitas del Barrio Gótico, que nos llevó a la plaza de la catedral.
• At the end of the street we came to Calle Princesa.  We then crossed Via Laietana and went into the Gothic quarter.  We took Calle Llibreteria and as it was a nice day we had an ice cream whilst admiring the Plaza del Rei on our right hand side and the famous San Jaume square at the end of the street.  The government buildings really are amazing.  From there we took Calle Bisbe - one of the prettiest streets in the Gothic quarter - which led us to the cathedral square.
• Completamente muertos y cansados sobre las 17:30, decidimos tomar el metro de nuevo en Via Laietana y desde allí en la línea 4 hasta Verdaguer, y allí con la línea 5, dirección Horta, hasta Sagrada Familia, la cita más importante de toda la ciudad.
• At around 17:30, totally exhausted, we took the metro again in Via Laietana.  We took line 4 to ‘Verdaguer’ and then changed to line 5 to get to the Sagrada Familia, the city’s most famous attraction.
• Mi familia simplemente alucinó admirando la mayor obra arquitectónica de Gaudí. El edificio simplemente parece de otro planeta.
• Mi family was amazed by Gaudí’s most important architectural masterpiece.  The building seems to come from another planet.
• A las 20:00 volvimos a casa pero sólo para descansar y arreglarnos de nuevo ya que decidimos terminar el día en uno de los restaurantes más bonitos y exóticos de la ciudad, El Thai Gardens en la calle Diputación.
•  At 8pm we went home…but only to rest a little and then get ready to go out again as we decided to end the day in one of the most beautiful and exotic restaurants in the city, the Thai Gardens, in Calle Diputación.
