| Gaudi's famous Parc Guell, Barcelona |
Barcelona is a wonderful location to learn Spanish, a city of beautiful buildings, wonderful lifestyle, history, culture, excellent shopping and leisure facilities, plus kilometres of golden sandy beaches – truly unique, quite unlike anywhere else!
To help our students discover all that there is to see and do in Barcelona, as well as enjoy themselves and practise the Spanish that they learn on their course, we organise an extensive cultural program.
Typical activities include:

This school is really well organized, small but nice and comfortable. The staff is really kind, the teachers really love their job, that's why every class is pleasant. So, I would suggest everybody this school and I would get back. Actually, I am going back the 6th of November. Bye and thanks. |

Guided walks with tutors
As our school is located in the very centre of Barcelona, just 5 minutes’ walk from Plaza Cataluña, there are many places of interest within walking distance of the school. Typically, we organise at least one guided walk per week. We take students to places like the Gothic Quarter, Montjuic (where the Olympic stadium is), Gaudi’s Parc Guell, The Olympic port, ‘Las Ramblas’, to mention but a few. These guided walks are free-of-charge, though students do pay if we take the metro, or if they wish to enter a museum or monument
Spanish film evenings in the school
At least once a week, we organise a Spanish film evening in the school. We have a large student room, where the films are shown. Normally, one of our tutors will explain a bit about the background of a film and then students will watch it, stopping half way through, to chat about the film, or to take a break in the school garden, or on the terrace. These film evenings are free of charge.
Salsa and Sevillanas (Flamenco) dance classes
These Salsa and Flamenco classes are very popular with our students! The classes are held in the evening, in our school. Don’t worry if you’re a complete beginner in Salsa/Flamenco, or in Spanish! Though the dance tutor will speak in Spanish, you really just need to follow what he/she does. It’s a very effective and enjoyable way to learn Salsa or Flamenco, but is also really good Spanish practise and a great way to make friends with other students on the course! After the lessons, there are lots of dance bars in Barcelona (Salsa and Flamenco), where you can show off your moves!

Welcome parties in the school
Most weeks, new students arrive at the school. So, we normally hold a ‘welcome party’ in the evening, each week, to which all new and existing students are invited. We have some food and soft drinks, and the Director, with teachers, welcomes the new students to the school. This is a great opportunity for students to meet and is very popular with our existing students, who are naturally very interested to meet the new arrivals! Students usually leave in groups to continue the evening in a nearby café, or to show new arrivals around some of their favourite spots in Barcelona!
Cultural lessons
We regularly organise cultural lessons in the afternoons, on themes such as:
- ‘Recent Spanish History’
- ‘The Spain of today’
- ‘Spanish Culture’
- ‘Spanish Food and Drink’
- ‘Barcelona Football Club’
|
- ‘Family life in Spain’
- ‘Catalunya’s Autonomy
- ‘The History of Barcelona’
- ‘Spanish Customs’
- ‘Gaudi’s Legacy’

Evenings out with tutors
A great way to discover Barcelona is to join our tutors on an evening out. We normally meet at the school and then go on a ‘tapas tour’ (each time to a different part of Barcelona), or to a Salsa bar, or for a meal at one of our tutor’s favourite locations. Sometimes, we go up to ‘El Tibidabo’, to see the night-time panorama over Barcelona, or for a walk along the beach, ending up at one of the ‘Chiringitos’ (café/bars) on the beach. Our tutors really know Barcelona well, and these evenings are really popular with our students. You just pay for your own drinks and food – the guided tour and extra Spanish practise is free!

International Evenings in the school
One of the most enjoyable aspects of being on a Spanish course at our school is the number of people you meet from other countries, who are doing exactly the same thing as you! The vast majority of the students on our courses come as individuals, leaving friends and family behind. But you quickly make new friends on the course – and we help this process by organizing regular ‘international evenings’ in the school. These are parties, to which all our students are invited. These events are held in the school – usually in the school garden (from April to the end of October). These are not just parties. They are chance for students to meet and chat, and mix with students who may be on different courses, or in different levels. We guarantee you that you will never forget the friends you make on one of our courses. Living and learning a language in a foreign country is something quite unique and you never forget the friends that you share a unique experience like this with!
We are always expanding our cultural program, and these are just a few of the most regular events!
