Spanish host families in Barcelona

Our school offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture and language by living with a local host family. This type of accommodation not only provides a comfortable and welcoming environment but also enhances your learning experience through daily interactions with native Spanish speakers.

We carefully select and screen our host families to ensure they meet our standards of hospitality and comfort. Each family is interviewed and their homes inspected to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our students. A host family can be a married or unmarried couple, or a single person, with or without children. If you have a preference, please let us know.
Throughout your stay, our school staff is always available to assist you. We maintain regular contact with both students and host families to ensure everything runs smoothly and address any concerns that may arise.

Things that you should know about Host Family accommodation:

Bedrooms

Our students can expect a clean room with a single or double bed, desk, drawer and wardrobe space. Clean sheets and towels will be provided by the host families on arrival

Single rooms

If you travel alone, you will be provided with your own private bedroom in the host family's home. This means you will not have to share a room with another student. It is possible that there may be another student staying with the same host family, but rest assured, each student will have their own private space.

Shared rooms

If you travel together with a friend or a partner, it is possible to request a shared room with the host family, and we will make sure to arrange it. Please note that a shared room can only be reserved for 2 students who travel together.

Single rooms with private bathroom

In some of our host families, private bathrooms are available for an additional charge.

Meals

Meals are always included in this accommodation option, so you don't need to worry about cooking. We offer two meal options with our host families:

Breakfast only

Half-board (breakfast and dinner)

Our host families usually prepare a continental breakfast, which is a light morning meal typically consisting of pastries, breads, fruits, cereals, and beverages such as coffee, tea, or juice and home cooked dinners.
However, please note that host families do not allow students to use the kitchen to make hot meals. You are welcome to prepare tea or coffee, make a sandwich or salad, and use the microwave and fridge. If you are allergic or vegetarian, or have any special requirements, let us know in advance and we will do our best to guarantee your request.

Household pets

Keeping household pets is common in Spain. Some of our host families have pets, such as dogs or cats. Students must inform us of any allergies or fears related to specific animals.

Smoking

The majority of our host families are non-smokers, but we do however have host families who smoke. Please let us know if you would prefer to be placed with a non-smoking family before reservation.

Laundry

Host families provide one load of washing once a week. If the family does not have a washing machine, they will tell you where the nearest laundry is located.

Locations

All our host families are located a maximum of 25 minutes from our school by public transport. Some families live within walking distance or a short bus or metro ride from the school.
