Joan Gómez

Joan is one of the most beloved teachers among our students. He is energetic and fun. He teaches general Spanish, conversation classes, and DELE exam preparation.

He holds a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology (Universitat de Barcelona), a Master’s in Secondary, Baccalaureate, Vocational and Language Teaching (Universitat de Barcelona), a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (International House, Instituto Cervantes, and Universitat de Barcelona), and DELE examiner accreditation for all levels (Instituto Cervantes).

Books are the love of my life. And that's why bookstores are very special to me. My favorite place in the city is long gone: the old Librería Canuda, in Santa Ana street, in the center of Barcelona. An impossible labyrinth of thousands of books, with a basement that Carlos Ruiz Zafón portrayed as "the cemetery of forgotten books", in his famous novel "The Shadow of the Wind". Of course, I love the bookstore La Central. I can't forget the film library of Catalonia, in the Raval neighborhood, where I have seen so many great movies and had such a good time in the surroundings

I love music, and in my spare time I compose songs where I fuse all the styles I connect with, from techno to punk. I also love creative writing, and the study and practice of meditation and the classics of еastern philosophies.

To teach is to give oneself to others. It is fascinating to be connected to so many people from so many different places and to be able to learn from them every day.
